The opinion poll conducted by the students of Loyola College to determine the most popular film actor in Tamil Nadu came out a surprise for many. The superstar of Kollywood, Rajnikanth and one of the highest paid actors in India took the fourth position. The all time favorite and number 1 position was bagged by the late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and actor M.G. Ramachandran popularly known as MGR. the second spot went to thespian Sivaji Ganesan. Interestingly, the third place was bagged by Vijay pushing behind Rajni to the fourth position. Looks like Rajni position deteriorated this year as he had topped the list last year. The most popular among the actresses was Saroja Devi followed by former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha. K.R. Vijaya and Jyothika bagged the third and fourth position respectively. Kushboo, the favorite among the actress, took the fifth position. |

Vijay is all set to become the hunter in his next movie Vettaikaran, which he is expected to star after the completion of his current movie Villu. The film is being produced by M. Balasubramanian and B.Gurunath Meiyappan.
This is the first time the actor is doing a movie under the AVM banner. If sources are correct, Ileana would be playing the female lead in the movie Vettaikaran along with ‘Ilayathalapathy’ Vijay.
It was ealier rumoured that Vijay will be pairing with Ileana in the upcomming movie Villu directed by Prabu Deva, but finally Nayantara was roped in opposite to him.
Vijay Villu Waits for Vadivelu?
Vijay Villu Movie in Trouble?
Devi Sri Prasad is a busiest director after the background score of “Dasavatharam” he is flooding with offers. Vijay Villu’s Music Director is the same busy Devi Sri Prasad who had composed only a song for the movie “Villu”. Due to some personal work he was flying off to London for 22days and the Villu team is worrying for this and they have a tough time of filming song sequence without any songs or tunes. As the Music composer is on town it is expected that the song will be composed soon.
Chinese Fighters for Vijay Villu!
In recent time our actor Vijay came back from Switzerland after the shooting and the Director Prabhu Deva says that the movie is almost 70percent complete. Last week accompanied with Villu team along with fighters went for shooting a deadly action sequences with Chinese fighters. Actor Vijay praising Prabhu Deva about his commitment towards his work and the Villu film have planned three more songs which is to be shoot at some of the striking foreign locations. Hope Pongal will be a feast for Vijay fans.

Thalapathy Flooding in Kollywood as Siddharth Turns Kadhal Thalapthy
Ilayathalapathy Vijay is a trend setter because the thalapathi’s are flooding in Kollywood industry. There was only one thalapathy that is our Vijay but when we look Tamil cine industry now there are Purathchi Thalapathy (Vishal), Chinna Thalapathy (Bharath) and at last now Veera Thalapathy(Ritheesh). Actor Siddharth of “Boys” fame is now prefixes his name with Kadhal Thalapthy.
Nayanthara pairs up with Vadivelu
Vijay-Nayan starrer Villu is moving on at a breakneck speed. The film has garnered huge expectations as the winning combination Vijay and director Prabhu Deva are back together. It may be recalled that their Pokkiri was a smash hit. The director had filmed a song sequence in which Vadivelu and Asin danced to the tunes of Suttrum Vizhi Chudare in Pokkiri, which created a laugh riot among the audience. He once again intends to do the same but this time it’s Nayan who will be shaking her legs with Vadivelu for the song “My name is Billa.” This song will be filmed on the floors of AVM Studios. |
Vijay impressed Prakash Raj
After the “Gilli” movie Prakash Raj deliberately asked actor Vijay’s call sheet for his home production Duet movies but actor Vijay was busy with schedules and escaped from giving call sheet for Prakash Raj own production. Meanwhile S.A.Chandrasekar approached Prakash Raj to act for “Pandhayam” movie cleverly Prakash Raj had idea of getting Vijay in his home production.
Actor Prakash Raj agreed for “Pandhayam” movie only when S.A.Chandrasekar and Vijay confirms of giving call sheet for his banner. Hope our Vijay winning habit may impressed Prakash Raj !!!

Vijay in Duet Films
Duet Films, Prakash Raj’s own production house has announced that it will produce a film with Actor Vijay in the lead. Duet Films, has made good films till date and his one of the recent Mozhi is super hit.
Vijay could commence the movie with Duet Films after Vijay’s Villu is complete. Story discussions for the film are going on and sooner official announcements would be made.Vijay and Rajinikanth together ???
After the recent release of 'Kuselan', the remake of the Malayalam super hit 'Katha Parayumpol', there is a whiff in the air about another possible Malayalam remake in Tamil.
According to reports, plans are on to remake the Malayalam film 'One Way Ticket' that had Prithiviraj in the lead and Mammootty in a cameo as himself. The story was about Mammooty, a superstar in films, coming down to a village to save his ardent fan's love life.
A big banner that produces Tamil films is said to have bought the rights for this movie and is ready to remake the film with Vijay in the lead role. The reports also add that superstar Rajinikanth has been approached to play the cameo. Official confirmation is not out yet and it is not known if Rajinikanth will give the nod.
An interesting point to note is that Rajinikanth has been remaking quite a number of Malayalam hits. 'Muthu' was the remake of 'Thenmavin Kombathu' and 'Chandramukhi', the remake of the Malayalam classic 'Manichithra Thaazhu'.
With recent reports that have come in saying that 'Kuselan' has managed only a lukewarm opening, the decision and announcement about remaking 'One Way Ticket' might go under the scanner.
Vijay to turn 'Vetaikkaaran' after loading 'Villu'
Vijay is currently working for 'Villu' that is being directed by Prabhu Deva. Meanwhile he had done a cameo for his father's film 'Panthayam' that stars Nithin Sathya and Sindhu Tolani. Vijay plays himself in the film and features as though he is acting in a film titled 'MGR' directed by Perarasu.
Vijay's association with MGR does not end here. His next venture after 'Villu' has been titled 'Vettaikkaaran'. It can be recalled that MGR had acted in a film bearing the same title decades ago. This film is to be produced by AVM.
Would it be ironical to say that Vijay would become a 'Vettaikaaran' after arming himself with 'Villu'?
Vijay to fight and dance in 'Pandhayam'?
Director S A Chandrasekhar's 'Pandhayam' starring Nithin Sathya, Prakash Raj and Sindhu Tolani is almost complete.
Buzz is that Vijay had performed in a guest role in the film. He plays the actor himself. Sources close to the director say, 'Chandrasekhar has accommodated more scenes than originally planned for Vijay in the movie.
Though initial plans were to cast Vijay in a small cameo, the director has ended up shooting a stunt sequence and a song featuring his son'.
However he has chosen to keep details about Vijay's role inside the closet as of now considering the 'Kuselan' fiasco. More scenes for Vijay would be good news for Vijay fans. Obviously they would love to see more of their favorite hero on screen.
Vijay's 50th film – Director in question(?)
Vijay's 50th film will be produced by his father S.A. Chandrasekhar under the banner 'VV Creations'. A proposal is made forth to make the flick as a grand venture.
Meanwhile, Vijay is in a busy schedule to complete 'Villu', directed by Prabhudeva. He has also agreed the proposal to do a movie for AVM Balasubramaniam titled 'Vettaikaran', to be directed by debut director Babusivan.
Who will direct his 50th film is the question floating in air in the industry? Sources close to the actor says that the names under consideration are directors Prabhudeva, Hari and Jayam Raja.
"One among the three will be chosen to do the film", as they say.
'Pandhayam' to hit screens on 19 September
Veteran director S. A. Chandrasekhar's 'Pandhayam' will hit the screens on 19 September.
Produced by V. V. Creations and Hitesh Jhabak, the movie features Nithin Sathya, Sindhu Tolani and Prakash Raj in lead roles. Songs by Vijay Anthony are already topping the charts.
An optimistic Chandrasekhar says, 'the movie would woo youngsters. It has got everything in it to entertain the masses'.
The highlight is Vijay playing a cameo in the film. He appears as the actor himself alongside director Perarasu.
'I am happy that I got an opportunity to work with a seasoned director like S A Chandrasekhar so early in my career, says Nithin Sathya. He appears as a Vijay fan in the movie.
'Raman Thediya Seethai' also releases on the same day.
A Vijay flick to be produced by Prakash Raj
Prakash Raj is most certainly one of the busiest actors in the country as his talent is beckoning all kinds of filmmakers to cast him. The actor also has a production house called Duet Films that has churned out many successful films. The ace actor recently announced that Duet Films will produce a film with Vijay in the lead.
The list of movies Prakash Raj is acting in currently, seems to be endless. 'Villu' with Vijay, an unnamed film directed by John, 'Abhiyum Naanum' with Trisha, an unnamed film produced by Radaan, a Hindi film with Salman Khan, 'Pandhayam' with Nithin Sathya, 'Dosth', and 'Inithu Inithu'.
Prakash Raj played the protagonist in a film called 'Kanjeevaram' directed by Priyadarshan. The film was screened at the Toronto Film Festival and wowed audiences. The film is expected to be screened in many other film festivals as well. Prakash Raj is currently accompanying the film at the festivals.
Looks like Vijay will commence the project with Prakash Raj's Duet Films after 'Villu' is complete.
Vijay's "YES" to Prakash Raj
If things go well for Prakash Raj, he may sign up Ilayathalapthi Vijay for his next venture. Prakash Raj told reporters that his production house Duet Movies is now busy with the audio release of Abhiyum Naanum, following which another movie Mayilu will hit screens. Yet another film, Inithu Inithu, is also in the pipeline he disclosed.
Vijay’s 50th Movie !
Illayathalapathy Vijay’s next movie after ‘Villu’ has been titled Vettaikkaaran. This film is to be produced byAVM Productions. This is Vijay’s first film with the production house. AVM Balasubramanian and B. Gurunath Meiyappan will is producing the film.
The next project after that, which would be Vijay’s 50th movie, is to be produced by his father’s V.V. Creations.
Vijay Learns From Kuselan, Keeps Low Profile
Vijay appears as Actor Vijay himself in Panthayam movie. Panthayam stars Nitin Sathya, Sindhu Tolani, Prakash Raj and Vijay in special appreance. Nitin acts as Vijay’s crazy fan who comes to his shooting spot as he gets into a problem.
Considering what happened to Kuselan, Vijay has been kept low profile in Panthayam publicity. Vijay did not wanted to create huge expectations with his fans like kuselan, so he did not even attend the audio launch of film which is directed by his father S.A. Chandrasekar.
Producer of Panthayam decided not to release the stills of Vijay to the press, because it will create huge expectations among Vijay’s fans. Distributors have been advised not to sell the film to theatres saying it is a Vijay film.
Villu Pongal 2009 Release
Villu crew had returned from Switzerland and they are in Bangkok to finish the final shootings.
Vijay, director Prabhu Deva and a couple of fighters left for Bangkok to shoot a deadly action scene along with Chinese fighters for Ayngaran International’s Villu. Movie will hit the screen for 2009 Pongal.
Vijay off to Bangkok to fight it out
Vijay, director Prabhu Deva and a couple of fighters left for Bangkok to shoot a exclusive action scene along with Chinese fighters for Ayngaran International's Villu. The crew left for Bangkok last week and the hero and heroine camped in Pukhet, an island famous for mega entertainment.
The film is almost completed, and is said to have come out well. These days Vijay keeps on praising Prabhu Deva and his commitment and dedication to his work. Three more songs of the film are being planned and it will be in some exotic foreign location.
The director also plans to shoot one song in Singapore.
Villu will be ready for release for Pongal 2009, on January 14, Vijay and Prabhu Deva's lucky day when their super hit Pokkiri released two years back.
Perarasu about Vijay
Your project with Vijay was shelved for some reason?
This is a common phenomenon in the profession. I worked with Vijay for Thirupachi and Sivakasi and both turned out to be super hits. We also had plans for another movie which could not take off due to several reasons including Vijay’s prior commitments. We are planning for another venture probably next year.
In a tabloid recently, there was a mention of Vijay wanting Gautam Menon to add up a few scenes from your movies like Thirupachi and Sivakasi for their latest venture. Your take on this?
Vijay is a mass hero and he has a responsibility to satisfy crores of fans. I don’t see anything wrong in Vijay mentioning such a thing since those movies were commercially well received. Besides, there are lots of compromises involved in making a movie and it is quite acceptable for the director and actor to have certain priorities.
Vijay and Nayathara for a Kuthu Song in Pollacchi
Remember! There are two things that wont go parallel, Vijay and his fast step dance. No one can deny the fact that he is the real king of dance in Kollywood. Prabhu Deva who churned out his best choreography with Vijay for their previous venture ‘Pokkiri’ is working on the same tempo for Villu.
Shooting for the film is progressing with at a full speed where important scenes were shot at the busy roads of Chennai during night time of last week. Now the entire team has fleeted to Pollacchi to shoot a fast beat Kuthu song featuring Vijay and Nayanthara together. Prabhu Deva and Devi Shri Prasad together have been involved in serious composing to bring out the best out of Vijay’s fast beat Kuthu songs.
For sure, this song will be a grand fiesta for all Vijay fans for it wills more grand than ‘Mambazhamam’ song in Pokkiri…
A mass song in Pollachi for villu
The Vijay- Nayanthara action entertainer Villu, directed by Prabhu Deva is making brisk progress. Last week, during the nights, action scenes were canned for the film in and arond the busy streets of Chennai.
The film has some awesome action scenes which are very crucial to the story. After completing the Chennai schedule, the unit has now left for Pollachi to shoot a song for the film.
According to sources in the industry, Prabhu Deva wants to shoot the ultimate Kuthu song for the film. Remember some of the most popular Kuthu numbers in Tamil cinema have featured our Ilayathalapathy. One of the major highlights of Vijay- Prabhu Deva's earlier Pokkiri was the songs and its picturisation. Who can forget the chartbusting kuthu number Mambazham ma...?
Similarly in Villu, music director Devi Sri Prasad is said to have composed a mass kuthu number which will be picturised on Vijay and Nayanthara in Pollachi this week. The song, it is believed, is sure to make the fans of the star happy.
Vijay in a movie titled 'MGR'
Actor Vijay is playing the lead role in a movie titled 'MGR', directed by Perarasu. Hold your horses and don't jump to conclusions. This is a film within a film.
Vijay's dad S. A. Chandrasekhar is directing a film called 'Pandhayam' with Nithin Sathya donning the lead role. Vijay will be playing himself in the film as a guest performer. Since he plays himself, he will be depicted as though he is shooting for a film under the direction of Perarasu. And that film's title is 'MGR'.
The scene was shot in Chennai recently. Nithin Sathya, the hero of 'Pandhayam' plays a die-hard Vijay fan in the film and so goes to see Vijay shooting for a movie. Prakash Raj and Sindhu Thulani also are in the cast. Vijay Anthony has scored the music.
It may be recalled that Vijay had earlier acted in a guest role in S A Chandrasekhar's 'Sukkran'.
Vijay is meanwhile busy with 'Villu', directed by Prabhudeva and the shooting for the film, produced by Ayngaran Internationals is on at a rapid pace.
“I don't want to spoil my good relationship with Vijay”
The trailer release function of director S.A. Chandra Sekar's Pandhayam was held in Chennai on Sunday, July 13th. The trailer was released by Vijay, and received by Simran.
The event witnessed some emotive scenes with the director and his son, actor Vijay, disclosing the other side of their relationship. Chandra Sekar, the loving and doting father that he is, said that when Vijay entered the film industry he was merely known as S.A. Chandra Sekar's son but with his histrionics he has now reached the pinnacle. The director also acknowledged that nowadays he is more famously known as Vijay's father!
Vijay, during his speech said that when his father called him to narrate the story of Pandhayam he felt it was an apt film for him. But S.A. Chandrasekar roped in Nitin Sathya as he did not want to wait for Vijay's dates, which are much in demand now. S.A. Chandra Sekar earlier said that he was more of a friend to Vijay and he did not want to spoil that relationship. Pandhayam, said the Ilayathalapathi, would be a big break for Nitin Sathya and Sindhu tolani.
Vijay to go with Vikram
Its almost a decade now, we were able to watch a Tamil movie starred by two leading men in the industry.
Now the stage is almost set and its expected that Viajy and Vikram may come together for the proposed movie by the director Venkat Prabhu.
Venkat has already approached both with the proposal and they have accepted to do a movie together if the story suits both, but both of them have yet to give appointment for Venkat to tell the story to them.
Let us wait and watch what happens?
